3M™ 5421 UHMW PE film tape is used to protect surfaces from abrasion, the thin tape creates a "slip plane" effect to allow contact without wear. 3M™ 5421 works well to quiet vibration, squeaks, rattles and other noises that occur with movement. UHMW tape is ideal in applications where lubrication is not possible because of contamination. UHMW PE film tape is an economical alternative to PTFE tape in applications where high temperature extremes are not a factor. The slick surface tape is highly used in the aerospace, automotive, printing and MRO industries. Long lasting, low maintenance, easy-to-clean, use in general industrial applications to help control squeaks and rattles due to vibration or wear of metals, plastics and dissimilar materials. Use in the industrial, manufacturing and distribution industries to protect plastic and metal chutes and conveyors from wear; corrugated boxes, parts and materials slide more easily on surfaces lined with slick UHMW PE tape. Known as "guide rail tape", apply to conveyor guide rails to reduce noise levels in such locations as glass bottling plants. Protect containers from wear and damage, use UHMW tape as an easy release liner for tank and bin liners. Works well in the painting industry as an anti-stick surface for spray booth liners. Ideal for many impact wear and sliding applications, apply for easy glide of drawer slides and cabinets providing smooth, friction-free movement. Rubber adhesive provides good initial tack for immediate bonding to most surfaces.
