3M 8992 polyester tape is a general purpose green polyester film with a silicone adhesive used for a variety of high temperature masking applications in demanding conditions. Withstands up to 400 deg F baking cycles with residue free removal, use for general purpose masking in powder coating applications. High temperature, chemical and abrasion resistance. 3M 8992 polyester tape works well in the surface finishing industry for e-coating, electroplating and anodizing masking applications. Use for masking metal surfaces in acid or caustic chemical milling baths. High tensile strength, removes cleanly in one piece without slivering or tearing, works well as a flash breaker in metal bonding processes where the excess epoxy (flash) flows on to the tape. Use for holding parts or vacuum bags during composite bonding operations. Works well as a protective tape, mask metal and plastic surfaces to reduce scratches during handling and shipping. Ideal for splicing, tabbing and roll closing silicone treated liners or silicone coated materials. Silicone adhesive adheres to bare polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, aluminum foil and silicone coated substrates.
